Adult Ed classes: Most are 3 classes of 2 hours each, some are a bit shorter. Prices range from about $39 to $49. To book one of these classes contact the appropriate Adult Ed. office.
Beekeeping for beginners – This class is designed to stimulate the interest in and answer the questions of those interested in starting beekeeping as a hobby, to help pollinate their crops or generally learn more about honeybee husbandry. It covers what is needed where to locate bee hives, where to buy them, what it costs, harvesting your own honey and how to care for bees so they survive the winter.
Intermediate beekeeping – Is designed to look in more detail at key aspects of beekeeping particularly helpful to those who wish to run several hives and get the most out of them. The course is a good follow-on from the Beginners course. Building up hive strength, swarm prevention, splitting hives, making nucs, disease prevention, feral colony relocation and honey production are all covered

Build a beehive day, Is a one day class designed for those who plan to assemble their own hives from parts purchased at the Bee Whisperer’s store. Class will be at 236 Main Road South, Hampden ME 04444, starting at 8am, finish at about 12pm. We will go through some basics in hive parts, design and where to locate them. There will be a demonstration of hive assembly then students will build their own hives to take home ready to paint and add bees. Coffee break included. $40
One day Open Hive Beginners Class Is a one day class designed for those planning or considering starting to keep honeybees. Class will be at 236 Main Road South, Hampden ME 04444, starting at 8am and finish at about 2:30pm. The class will entail 4 hours in the class room learning basic equipment, husbandry, where to locate hives and how to care for the bees, Harvesting your own honey and to get them through their first winter. Lunch provided. Weather permitting, students will open hives in the afternoon and see everything alive and buzzing. Protective equipment provided for the day, please come wearing long pants, sleeves and closed toes footwear. $75. A full range of equipment will be available for sale so you can be prepared to order bees and start beekeeping!
