In person, live Beekeeping classes with The Bee Whisperer 

Intermediate beekeeping  – Is designed to look in more detail at key aspects of beekeeping particularly helpful to those who wish to run several hives and get the most out of them. The course is a good follow-on from the beginners course. Building up hive strength, swarm prevention, splitting hives, making nucs, disease prevention, feral colony relocation and honey production are all covered. Class fee of $99 per person includes 4hrs of lessons, morning coffee and weather permitting, opening some bee hives in the afternoon. Bring your own protective equipment or it can be purchased on the day, wearing long pants and sleeves and closed toes shoes is reccommended.

One day beginners class – Learn about honeybees, what quipment you need, where to locate hives, how to care for them, how to harvest your own honey and prepare the bees for winter. A full range of equipment will be available for sale so you can be prepared to start beekeeping that day! Class fee of $99 per person includes 5hrs of lessons, morning coffee and weather permitting, opening some bee hives in the afternoon. Bring your own protective equipment or it can be purchased on the day, wearing long pants and sleeves and closed toes shoes is reccommended.

Peter Cowin , aka The Bee Whisperer, has kept honeybees on and off since the age of 11. In the last 15 years has grown his beekeeping hobby, and now runs hundreds of hives. He sells honey and other beeswax derived products such as lip balms and hand creams. Hands-on, one day, beekeeping for beginners classes with The Bee Whisperer in Hampden, ME.
